((okay, because I got too busy and couldn't post on the other board in BreezeClan, I know it got moved to the old boards, but Watersong and Eaglefeather were headed out of camp anyway, so this is just a continuation.))
Eaglefeather padded along the bank of the stream, knowing (or more like feeling) Watersong was close behind him. He was glad to be out of camp. It was true that he hadn't been spending the bulk of his time there, in the midst of his clanmates- on the contrary, he had been avoiding camp quite a bit lately- but it felt good to be someplace more open, listening to the soft flow of the water. It was even better having Watersong there, though he hated to admit to the real reason why.
After a moment Eaglefeather slowed his pace and finally stopped, staring out at the water for a moment. Then he turned his back to the stream and sat, curling his tail around his paws. "You know, judging by his look before we left camp, I think Snakefang wanted to attack me." He almost grinned when he said it. Almost. But he just smirked. "I don't think he likes the post of babysitter very much." His smile softened slightly. "But I can't honestly say I care. I like being able to just talk with you."
He was letting himself become far happier in the moment then he should, but in that instent he didn't care. He only cared that he was with the one cat who understood him, who knew him. It still ached to think of all the times they used to be together when they were apprentices, back when things weren't so complicated, but for now he beat unwelcomeing thoughts like that back.

Padding along behind Eaglefeather, Watersong watched him carefully. How long had it been since they had been able to take a walk together? With Snakefang always around and Wavekit, she had lost connection with him, the whole time knowing that he was probably who she should have talked to. Snakefang wasn't the best with words, and lately he had been even worse. As he sat she sat next to him, still looking at him, giving a slight nod as he spoke.
"Snakefang isn't the friendliest y'know..." She said, finally taking her eyes off of him and looking off in to the trees. After a moment she turned back to him, ears flicking, "I missed you, Eaglefeather." She said simply, frowning slightly and then looking away, "I know some of it's my fault, but I really do miss you. I wish you were around more..."

Eaglefeather felt that familiar pang of regret in his chest and he looked down at the water flowing by. He stared, ears flicking as he listened to the stream. "It's not your fault at all, Watersong." He sighed, lookinh up at her again. "I just..." his voice trailed off and he shrugged. "I just don't fit in at camp, or at least I don't feel like I do. Sometimes I think you're the only one who sees me." He smiled half-heartedly at the pale calico, then looked down at the stream once more. "I'm sorry I haven't been around much, Watersong."

Watersong shook her head, "But it is, Eaglefeather. From the start." She said, but trailed off as he spoke again, not taking her eyes off of him. Sighing, she took a few steps towards him, leaning in to his shoulder and closing her eyes, "But you do fit in, Eaglefeather. They just don't know how to look for the wonderful cat you really are." She purred, still leaning against him as she looked back the way they had come, "Just promise me I'll see more of you."

Eaglefeather paused as Watersong leaned against him, expecting to feel that familiar hurt, the ache in his chest that he felt everytime he glanced at her, that ache of longing. But instead all he felt was an empty sadness, a feeling that this could have been the way things were. He glanced down at the water at her request, knowing that it was what he wanted too. He didn't want to stay away. He wanted to see Watersong. Even if it hurt that he couldn't be with her like she was with Snakefang. The warrior sighed and wrapped his tail around hers. "I promise. I won't stay away so much like before." He'd do it for her. Because it was what she wanted. And for him. Because he wanted it to. Whether he fit in or not didn't matter when it came to that. A lot of words he wanted to say came to him then, but caught in his throat. Instead he nudged his head against hers apologetically and murmured "I'm sorry."
